Final, unofficial results in for Yellowstone County

While statewide results were still trickling in for Tuesday’s primary election, Yellowstone County posted final but unofficial results a little before 11 p.m.

In the Republican primary, Yellowstone County Commission candidate Don Jones had 11,552 votes to Mike Black’s 8,880, meaning Jones will challenge Democrat Robyn Driscoll in the General Election in November. (more…) Continue Reading →

City primary election attracts record number of voters

It’s official. As of noon on Monday, a record number of voters had already cast their ballots in Billings’ primary election. Yellowstone County Elections Administrator Bret Rutherford said he had 21,246 mail-in ballots in hand at noon, beating the old record of 20,966 ballots cast in the primary election of 2009. Here’s how to learn more about city candidates

If you’ve been wanting more information on the people running for municipal office in Billings this fall, you’re in luck. Several organizations are sponsoring a series of forums for City Council and mayoral candidates, set for this weekend in a variety of city parks, and Community Seven Television is airing a series of 30-minute interviews with all the candidates. A primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 12, and the top two candidates in each race will proceed to the General Election on Nov. 7. Continue Reading →

Montana Viewpoint: Keeping a wary eye on a crazy primary

This has to be the most entertaining primary election that I’ve ever witnessed, and I’m not sure that’s a good thing. My particular favorite among the Republican candidates, Jeb Bush, just dropped out and I suspect it was because he was not as big a charlatan as the others. Kasich will be next for the same reason.
