Two young friends (or brothers or cousins maybe) stroll down a sidewalk at North Park.
It was a good day for watching baseball, or a phone, at Dehler Park on Sunday. The Billings Scarlets were playing the Missoula Mavericks in American Legion baseball.
A proper follow-through is important when feeding the geese, as this young bread-caster demonstrated at Riverfront Park.
We are aware that according to the calendar, the first day of summer is still three weeks away.
But Sunday in Billings felt like the first day of summer. It was warm, for one thing. The National Weather Service observation station at the airport listed the high as 81 degrees, but the scoreboard at Dehler Park said 90 at mid-afternoon, and two downtown businesses had time and temperature signs pegging the heat at 89 and 91. All those felt about right.
And it was beautiful, with deep-blue skies and snow-white clouds scudding across the sky all day long. Just like summer. So, in honor of this, the first unofficial day of summer as declared by Last Best News, we offer up a series of photos to help us make the point.
