...if you buy the bar, this building is included!
This billboard for rent, cheap. Between Musselshell and Roundup.
It's hard to believe this photograph was taken in mid-March in northwestern Montana. On the Flathead River near Paradise.
Stone slab open market, Plains.
This shocked me. It had only been a few months since my last visit to Butte, and here was this enormous building going up across the street from the M&M (now closed, sadly). I soon learned that this $25 million building will be NorthWestern Energy's Montana headquarters.
Speaking of Butte, here's the lovely Square Butte between Laurel and Park City, with a big sky.
There's not much grass in Jordan, so using a lawn mower for design purposes probably makes sense.
I saw this notice in downtown Billings. The wording made it sound imminent, so I stood there for a couple of hours, waiting to do my duty. But eventually I had to leave. Hope everyone's OK.
I would pay extra rent to have a back staircase this cool. Downtown Billings.
At the end of what must have been one of the most open winters in the history of Montana—a year after one of the snowiest winters on record—it occurs to me that I didn’t do nearly as much traveling as I should have.
And then it occurs to me that when I set out on my first big out-of-town trip this winter, to do a story on the Beaver Creek Brewery in Wibaux way back in mid-November, it was snowing, windy and bitterly cold.
Maybe it was the memory of that trip that kept me mostly close to home this winter. But I did do some traveling around the state and have the photographs to prove it, a sampling of which you will find above, supplemented by a few photos taken around Billings.
And now that spring is really here, more travels, I promise.
