Downtown Billings.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><script>jQuery( document ).ready( function() { loadSlideshow( 6080, 'https:\/\/montana-mint.com\/lastbestnews\/2015\/04\/pictures-from-a-variety-of-montana-expeditions\/', 14 ) } );<\/script>\n<p>At the end of what must have been one of the most open winters in the history of Montana\u2014a year after one of the snowiest winters on record\u2014it occurs to me that I didn&#8217;t do nearly as much traveling as I should have.<\/p>\n<p>And then it occurs to me that when I set out on my first big out-of-town trip this winter, to do <a href=\"http:\/\/lastbestnews.com\/site\/2014\/11\/beer-food-fun-make-for-big-draw-at-wibaux-brewery\/\">a story<\/a> on the Beaver Creek Brewery in Wibaux way back in mid-November, it was snowing, windy and bitterly cold.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Maybe it was the memory of that trip that kept me mostly close to home this winter.
