{"id":5766,"date":"2015-03-06T15:10:38","date_gmt":"2015-03-06T22:10:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lastbestnews.com\/site\/?p=5766"},"modified":"2015-03-06T15:10:38","modified_gmt":"2015-03-06T22:10:38","slug":"glamour-says-info-in-article-came-directly-from-boelter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/montana-mint.com\/lastbestnews\/2015\/03\/glamour-says-info-in-article-came-directly-from-boelter\/","title":{"rendered":"Glamour says info in article came directly from Boelter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"addboard alignleft wp-image-5767 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/lastbestnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/Glamour.png\" alt=\"Glamour\" width=\"336\" height=\"94\" \/><\/a>A spokesperson for Glamour magazine has responded to a claim made by Sheri Boelter in <a href=\"http:\/\/lastbestnews.com\/site\/2015\/03\/complaints-trigger-scrutiny-of-runaway-programs-director\/#\">a story<\/a> about the Tumbleweed Runaway Program that we published Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Boelter, the director of the nonprofit agency, was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.glamour.com\/inspired\/2014\/11\/inspiring-women-of-the-year-from-around-america\/26\">featured by Glamour<\/a> last November as one of &#8220;50 Phenomenal Women of the Year,&#8221; and she told Last Best News, in a tape-recorded interview, that she did not provide Glamour with the information used in her profile.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you ask Glamour magazine where they got their information, they Googled it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Mistrella Murphy, a spokesperson for Glamour in New York, wrote to Last Best News on Friday and asked us to publish this statement:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The information in question was provided by Boelter to our writer, and the magazine has an email transcript of the exchange.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In its profile of Boelter, Glamour printed an anecdotal account of a frigid evening in February 2014 when the drop-in center at Tumbleweed was supposedly crowded with homeless teens. Variations of the same story had been told at Tumbleweed&#8217;s annual fundraiser last October and in Noise &amp; Color, a local magazine, in November.<\/p>\n<p>The account in Glamour read:\u00a0\u201cOn one particular night last year when the temperature hit 26 degrees below zero, 68 teens showed up at the organization\u2019s drop-in center, where they knew they would find food, shelter from the cold, and one other life essential\u2014hope.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Boelter later said that\u00a070 was the total number of youths \u201cwith no safe place to go this winter,\u201d and still later said that Tumbleweed&#8217;s database showed the number was actually 80.<\/p>\n<p>She and Paul Collins, chairman of the Tumbleweed board, said the anecdote delivered at the annual fundraiser, putting all the teens in the center on one night\u2014and which included a statement that 13 of those teens sold their bodies to stay warm\u2014resulted from a misunderstanding.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A spokesperson for Glamour magazine has responded to a claim made by Sheri Boelter in a story about the Tumbleweed Runaway Program that we published Wednesday.
