The second quake had a magnitude of roughly 4.9 and could be heard seconds before it hit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI could hear the second one coming for about 8 to 10 seconds before it hit,\u201d one Missoula witness reported. \u201cIt was a faint rumble, like a jet taking off in the distance. The house creaked and seemed to sway, and the chimes began to clang.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Witnesses from across the region reported feeling the temblors, including residents in Missoula, Bozeman, Helena and Salmon, Idaho. Residents in Lincoln, closest to the epicenter, reported \u201cstrong\u201d to \u201cvery strong&#8221; motion.<\/p>\n<p>No immediate reports of damage were reported, though 9-1-1 dispatchers were swamped with calls.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShook the house and beds,\u201d one witness in Craig reported. \u201cLasted for about six or seven seconds, but had aftershock that lasted about three seconds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"well\"><div class=\"dfad dfad_pos_1 dfad_first\" id=\"_ad_652\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/mjhWkW\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lastbestnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/201703_capeair_variable.jpg\" alt=\"CapreAir_Variable\" width=\"510\" height=\"180\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18069\" \/><\/a><\/div><\/div>Several dozen Missoula residents reported feeling the quakes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStanding in kitchen and was almost knocked off my feet,\u201d one Miller Creek resident reported. \u201cHave been through many quakes, this one is the hardest hitting one I have felt. Almost violent shaking, house was moving for a good 20 seconds after quake then the second one hit and rocked the house hard a second time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m from SoCal where earthquakes are a norm, and this one scared the living daylights out of me,\u201d another Missoula witness on McDonald Avenue reported.<\/p>\n<p>The aftershocks continued throughout the early morning.
