Lewis, was one of the earliest residents of Bozeman, a successful barber <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Samuel_Lewis_House_(Bozeman,_Montana)\">whose house<\/a> is on the National Register of Historic places.<\/p>\n<p>There are lots of stories about Edmonia Lewis on the web today. One of the most popular seems to be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/indepth\/features\/2017\/02\/edmonia-lewis-african-american-trailblazer-170201071933432.html\">this piece<\/a> from Al Jazeera. I couldn&#8217;t find anything to indicate that Edmonia herself ever visited Montana.
