MSU Billings food pantry will benefit from road race

MSU Billings’ Yellowjacket Emergency Pantry has been selected as one recipient of this year’s Run! Turkey Run! 5K race. This will be the seventh annual race, which is held on Thanksgiving Day. Fall enrollment at MSU Billings up over last year

Enrollment is up at Montana State University Billings this fall semester. MSUB announced Wednesday that as of its official 15th class-day count, 4,401 students are enrolled, up slightly from the headcount of 4,366 students in fall 2016. The impending departure of Montana State University Billings Chancellor Mark Nook to become the president of the University of Northern Iowa raises the question of whether Montana and Billings are really invested in the future and success of MSU Billings. In the past decade, MSUB has had four chancellors, four provosts and four deans of the College of Business. It also saw the departure of a long-time director of libraries. Montana colleges rank near middle of pack

Montana colleges and universities posted mediocre results in Washington Monthly’s annual rankings, which came out Monday. The University of Montana ranked 115th nationally in the overall rankings. It was the only Montana school to make the list, which included more than 300 colleges and universities. In the “Best Bang for the Bucks” listing of colleges in the West, only the University of Montana Western campus in Dillion cracked the top 40. Montana Tech in Butte was listed 49th. New video celebrates downtown Miles City

If you’re a fan of Miles City—and if you’re not I’m going to have to assume you haven’t been there—you’ll probably enjoy this 90-second video highlighting what downtown Miles City has to offer. “The Heart of Home” video was created by Spotlight Productions for the Miles City Downtown Urban Renewal Agency and the Tax Increment Finance District Board. The video was the result of one idea cooked up by marketing students from Montana State University Billings, who worked with the the agency and the TIF board on ways to promote the downtown business area. The drone footage of the downtown and areas around town was filmed by Matt Hanvold. The video will be featured in television ads airing in Eastern Montana and will be posted on social media, too.
