Thanks to the success of this summer’s second annual Red Lodge Songwriter Festival, organizers of the festival recently donated $8,500 to the Red Lodge Public Schools Music Department. Festival co-founder and director Mike Booth said in a press release that the directors of the festival also donated $1,500 to Operation Second Chance, which helps heal wounded veterans through outdoor recreation. Mike Booth and Cory Johnson started the Red Lodge Songwriters Festival last year, hoping it would become an annual event that got bigger every year. It looks like they’re on the right track. The second annual festival starts next Thursday, June 22, and this year will feature two members of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, with 12 shows at six Red Lodge venues scheduled during the three-day event. Some of the biggest names behind the biggest names in Nashville will be performing in Red Lodge next month. The occasion is the first Red Lodge Songwriter Festival, set for Thursday-Saturday, June 23-25, and it will feature songwriters who have penned hits for Blake Shelton, Miley Cyrus, Merle Haggard, Dwight Yoakam, Rascal Flatts, George Strait, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Randy Travis, Patty Loveless and Alison Krauss, among others.
