Hundreds rally for Women’s March in Billings

Many hundreds of marchers — children, women and men — turned out for the Montana Women’s March Billings on Saturday morning in a show of solidarity and a call for women everywhere to get more involved in politics. Held a year after millions of women around the world rallied the day after the inauguration of President Donald Trump, the Billings march was one of at least half a dozen such events planned for around the state on Saturday. Totem pole, symbol of coal fight, finds temporary home

A totem pole that is a symbol of two Indian tribes’ opposition to increased coal mining and exportation has a temporary home in Billings. The 22-foot-tall western red cedar totem pole, created by the Lummi Nation as a gift to the Northern Cheyenne, was dedicated Friday outside Home on the Range, which houses the Northern Plains Resource Council and the Western Organization of Resource Councils of which it is part.
