Bicyclists from around the state are rallying against a proposed bill that would ban bicyclists and pedestrians from using virtually every two-lane road in the state that doesn’t have a paved shoulder. Christmas comes early for lucky McKinley students

A few days before Christmas, 38 lucky students at McKinley Elementary School found themselves in possession of new bicycles, locks and helmets on Wednesday, compliments of Billings TrailNet. “We build trails around town,” TrailNet event coordinator Kevin Odenthal told a gym full of kids Wednesday afternoon just before the giveaway. “We also want to make sure people have fun.” (more…) Continue Reading →

Progress made, challenges ahead, trail supporters hear

Members of Billings TrailNet celebrated their accomplishments at their annual meeting on Tuesday but also heard a couple of sobering reminders. One is that federal funding has declined sharply, meaning that TrailNet must count on providing 100 percent of funding for new projects.
