Rain? Ticks? At Audubon, kids learn to live with nature

As kids trooped into the Montana Audubon Center last week, they gave no indication of being daunted by a steady rain. It helped that all of them had been issued rain boots and heavy-duty rain pants and jackets. New director has long history with state Audubon center

In marketing itself to the outside world, Carolyn Sevier said, Billings is “closely wedded to landscape—the Rims, the river, the mountains, the prairies.”

She hopes that the Montana Audubon Center, which she was named to lead effective Jan. 1, will become widely known as the premier entity for helping connect people in this region with their natural surroundings. (more…) Continue Reading →

Audubon Center rolls out new summer activities

Tours

Responding to requests from the public, the Montana Audubon Center is offering several new programs this summer, including weekly nature tours of Norm’s Island and monthly early-morning bird walks. Also new are Tuesday-evening and Sunday-afternoon events involving canoeing on the nature center’s ponds or taking self-guided tours with “Nature Knapsacks” full of activity suggestions and equipment for each activity.
