Lincoln sculpture park: Preserving the past with art

LINCOLN—A “House of Sky” is just one of the vivid art installations a visitor comes upon in the “Blackfoot Pathways: Sculpture in the Wild” in Lincoln. There is also a genuine historic tepee burner from a nearby mill; a “Hill and Valley” landscape formation made from newspapers; a bulky frame-like statue of entangled spruce branches bound in a wood and metal frame; and a mammoth gateway of downed ponderosa pines, engraved with poetry, overlooking a golden fantasy village. ‘Creative reuse’ store hopes to promote art, conservation

Last winter, Tammy Zemliska and Doreen Hartman met when both were selling repurposed jewelry and home furnishings at Kim & Eddy’s on Montana Avenue. In talking with other artists who were also into repurposing and upcycling, as it’s called, they saw that there was a big need for work and studio space in Billings. Fromberg museum salutes 50 years of Bridger Youth Rodeo

FROMBERG—Butch Bratsky and Monica McDowell are standing inside the Clarks Fork Valley Museum, surrounded by photographs and memorabilia paying tribute to the Bridger Youth Rodeo. Bratsky, now a senior executive with Stockman Bank in Billings, grew up in Bridger and went on to become the national collegiate bull-riding champion in 1974. ‘Fishtail’ film captures ranch life during calving season

Two childhood friends have made a movie that quietly, beautifully captures the rhythms of life on a Montana cattle ranch. Andrew Renzi and Tylee Abbott, who were reared in Pennsylvania and now live in New York, will bring clips of their documentary, “Fishtail,” to the annual summer fundraiser for the Stillwater Protective Association this weekend. Stunning ‘Angel Horses’ on view in downtown Billings

Visitors to the opening day of the Yellowstone Valley Farmers’ Market in downtown Billings on Saturday will have a special treat. On each corner under Skypoint at Broadway and Second Avenue North there stands an “Angel Horse of a Different Color.” The life-size fiberglass horses were painted by local artists and installed at the intersection earlier this week.
