Former Vice President Joe Biden will be the keynote speaker at the 40th Annual Mansfield-Metcalf Dinner in Helena on Saturday, March 10, the Montana Democratic Party announced Thursday.
The dinner will be held at the Lewis and Clark County Fairgrounds. Details about tickets and timing will be announced in the coming weeks. To be notified when tickets for the dinner become available, sign up at the Montana Democratic Party website.
In a press release, Nancy Keenan, executive director of the state Democratic Party, hailed Biden’s working-class roots.
“Just like Montana’s own Senator Jon Tester, Vice President Joe Biden has never stopped fighting for working families and he has never forgotten where he came from,” Keenan said.
At 29, Biden became one of the youngest people ever elected to the U.S. Senate, and served there for 36 years, representing Delaware. He served two terms as vice president under President Barack Obama.
After leaving the White House in January 2017, Biden launched American Possibilities to support Democratic candidates and causes.
“Vice President Biden has worked his entire career defending working families,” Tester was quoted as saying in the release. “I’m looking forward to hosting him in Montana, and showing him the enthusiasm and excitement that continues to grow in our state as we head into 2018.”
