MSU Billings’ Yellowjacket Emergency Pantry has been selected as one recipient of this year’s Run! Turkey Run! 5K race.
This will be the seventh annual race, which is held on Thanksgiving Day. The Yellowjacket Emergency Pantry is one of four recipients, selected by a committee, to receive race proceeds this year. The others are Family Service, Meals on Wheels and the Backpack Meals Program.
The Run! Turkey Run! 5K and Street Mile were created to help put an end to hunger in the Billings community, and the founders thought Thanksgiving Day would be the perfect time to remind people to think about others in our community, especially those in need.
For more information, go to the Run! Turkey Run! Facebook page or its website.
The Yellowjacket Emergency Pantry is a food pantry designed to provide students with emergency food and hygiene supplies, connect students to community and campus resources, and identify and address any hunger and food insecurities that may exist among the student population at MSU Billings.
Services are available to all registered students. Students can receive YEP food supplies three times per semester, but are welcome to visit YEP for resource information at any time.
The Yellowjacket Emergency Pantry has provided more than 2,000 non-perishable food items to students in need since opening in the fall of 2016. For more information, contact Volunteer Engagement Coordinator Shayla Fox Brown at 896-5817 or shayla.fox@msubillings.edu.
