Don’t forget: there will be a members-only preview sale tonight, opening the Friends of the Billings Public Library fall book sale.
The preview sale will run from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the Royal Johnson Community Room on the first floor of the library, 510 N. Broadway. It costs $20 a year for an individual membership in the Friends group, and you can sign up at the door. The sale will continue Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 4.
There will be thousands of books in all genres to choose from, with more books added each day. The Friends use proceeds from the fall and spring sales to support programs like Food for Thought, the High Plains Book Awards, Books for Babies and Reading Rocks.
In the past, proceeds have also been used to pay for landscaping and patio furniture at the new library, supplies for the children’s section and support for the first year of the library’s Senior Book Club.
In addition to the twice-annual sales, the Friends run the Book Nook, part of the coffee shop on the first floor of the library, where books are sold during normal library hours. Donated books can also be dropped off in Book Nook.
