Billings Clinic names new CEO

Gibb

Dr. Randall Gibb is the new CEO of Billings Clinic.

Dr. Randall K. Gibb has been chosen as the new chief executive officer of Billings Clinic.

Gibb, a gynecologic oncology surgeon who has been with Billings Clinic since 2006, was named interim CEO in November 2016, after the retirement of longtime CEO Dr. Nicholas Wolter.

Gibb’s selection by the clinic’s board of directors as the new CEO was announced in a press release from the clinic Wednesday afternoon.

The press release also said that Gibb, before joining Billings Clinic, was an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Washington University, St. Louis.  When he joined Billings Clinic, Gibb was the first gynecologic oncology surgeon in the multi-state region.

Over the past 11 years, Gibb has expanded his role beyond clinical practice as a department chair, medical director of the Billings Clinic Cancer Center, and chief medical officer of the clinic.

One of the clinic’s “cornerstone principles,” the press release said, is that its CEO has to be a physician, and a nationwide search attracted more than 150 physician applicants.

“Billings Clinic is a nationally respected organization, and it is the strong commitment of the physicians, leaders, staff, and Board of Directors that sustains our focus on excellent quality, safety, service and value,” said board Chair Joy Ott.

“In his successive physician leadership positions and as a practicing surgeon, Dr. Gibb has gained a deep understanding of Billings Clinic, our patients, his physician colleagues and the complexity of health care in our region and nation,” Ott continued. “This experience has allowed him to develop a vision that builds on our firm foundation as a physician-led organization.”

Gibb, for his part, was quoted as saying, “I am humbled to have this opportunity to serve this great organization and continue to work with our team of dedicated and talented physicians, nurses and staff who care for our patients every day.”

Gibb and his wife, Lee, have two children.
