At a Rally for Climate Solutions on the lawn of the Yellowstone County Courthouse Saturday afternoon, speakers called for an end to coal exports and a commitment to renewable energy. The rally, one of 13 across the state Saturday, attracted about 100 people. The speaker here is Becky Mitchell, chair of the Yellowstone Valley Citizens Council.
A few pro-coal counter-protesters turned out at the rally, too.
At their book drive Saturday in the Underriner-Volvo building on Sixth Avenue North, volunteers for the Friends of the Billings Public Library were overwhelmed with donated books. The Friends will resume regular book sales at the library starting in the fall.
