AA Football Tidbits – Semifinals
Raise your hand if you went undefeated in your picks last week (I am, in case anyone was wondering). We’ve arrived at the semifinals and, to be honest, everyone we figured would be here is here. This week’s slate of games are as good as advertised. Consider both a toss up with the only advantage going to the home teams. Enjoy!
Semifinal Match-ups…
Bozeman @ Sentinel
West @ Butte
Minty’s Predicted Winners…
Bozeman
Butte
Last Week: 4-0, Overall: 58-17
What To Watch For…
- Game of the Week: Take your pick! I say Bozeman @ Sentinel. Two great teams; both loaded with athletes. Both welcomed transfer running backs to their programs this season. Sentinel has the edge at home, but the Hawks are big and beefy and feature a couple more stars than the Spartans, in my opinion.
- Upset Special(s):
- West – Here’s my take: Butte is great on offense, but they’ve allowed the most points of any team still in the playoffs with 162. West has only allowed 70 to their opponents. If West can stop Tommy Mellott, they stop Butte High. The Golden Bears are stingy on D and dynamic on O. I could easily see them coming away with a W in the Mining City.
Minty Tidbits…
- Stat Stuffer
- The Butte High-West game features the top two passers in the AA, Josh Erbacher (2843) and Tommy Mellott (2431).
- The Sentinel-Bozeman game features the top two rushers in the AA, Asher Croy (1393) and Jaxon Lee (1178), both of whom are new to the AA this season.
- Speaking of rushing…Butte High running back, Kameron Moreno, sits at #3 in the AA with 1125 rushing yards on the season, while backfield mate Tommy Mellott sits at 6th with 1036. Quite the duo for the Bulldogs!
