Who is better: Chris Murray or Gresch Jensen?
Montana Mint Sports produces the greatest weekly sports newsletter in the history of Montana. Sign up for it here.
Last week was predictable. The Montana Grizzlies took care of business at home against the North Dakota “Fighting” Hawks. The Montana State Bobcats showed flashes, but made too many mistakes in a loss to top-ranked Eastern Washington. The Griz are on a bye this week. Hopefully the Cats can get the win at Northern Colorado.
A shorter email this week because the Montana Mint Sports team has been hard at work on a project we’re hopefully debuting next week. But checkout below for a Chris Murray/Gresch Jensen comparison and easily the worst headline of the 2017 season.
This week’s Montana Mint Sports podcast is now available and can be found on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, and Google Play. Or you can just listen on the Mint.

Montana BYE WEEK
ESPN FCS Video. ESPN’s College Game Day put together a GREAT video of all the NFL stars that started in the FCS. It got us pretty hyped up.
Chris Murray vs. Gresch Jensen. Montana and Montana State each are led by fun and exciting quarterbacks in Gresch Jensen and Chris Murray respectively. But what quarterback is better? Let’s look at some 2017 season numbers:
Chris Murray: 6 starts (2-4 record), 1,441 total yards (781 passing/660 rushing), 13 touchdowns (9 passing/4 rushing), 5 INTs
Gresch Jensen: 4 starts (3-1 record), 1,786 total yards (1,630 passing/156 rushing), 17 touchdowns (13 passing/4 rushing), 6 INTs.
So which quarterback is best in Montana? It depends who you ask:
Griz fans: Clearly Gresch is better. He’s played less games and still has better numbers.
Cats fans: I’d like to draw your attention to this headline – “Chris Murray leads Montana State to upset over Montana”
In Defense of Gresch. Bear Tycoon was not pleased with Gresch Jensen’s first quarter of play, even threatening to place the young QB back on the Mint Sports Podcast not list. Jasper Moonshot did some actual research and dropped a spreadsheet bomb discrediting the Bear Tycoon. It was a thing of beauty.
Womp Womp. The Griz marching band doesn’t have the budget to travel to Cat/Griz this year.
Big Sky Power Rankings. theFCSwedge.com released its week 7 power rankings. The Griz are #3 and the Cats #6. Here is the full list:
1. Eastern Washington
2. Weber State
3. Montana
4. Northern Arizona
5. Southern Utah
6. Montana State
7. Sacramento State
8. UC-Davis
9. Northern Colorado
10. Idaho State
11. North Dakota
12. Portland State
13. Cal Poly
Worst headline of the season. It’s only October, but we won’t top this dreadful headline from 406mtsports.com: “Montana’s big-armed, blue-collar QB making serious proGresch”
