SEAL who killed bin Laden revealed to be from Butte
According to The Mail Online, the shooter the night Osama bin Laden was killed is none other than Butte, America’s Rob O’Neill. O’Neill, 38, is a former member of SEAL Team Six who has been portrayed on screen in Zero Dark Thirty, Captain Phillips and Lone Survivor. If the Mail’s news turns out to be true, the Montana Mint STRONGLY encourages we erect a statue of O’Neill immediately. In every city in Montana.
You can read the whole story from the Daily Mail here. A few of our favorite tidbits are below.
- O’Neill’s father revealed he and his son are NOT worried about being in the ISIS crosshair going as far as saying that he’ll “paint a big target on my front door and say come and get us’
- O’Neill joined the SEALs after “he was jilted by a sweetheart.” (Sorry, Osama. Broken hearts hurt).
- O’Neill was deployed more than a dozen times and took part in more than 400 (!) combat missions.
Here is a pic of O’Neill in his hometown.
