Five Depressing Facts About Internet In Montana
We here at the Mint love Montana. A lot. But one indefensible trait of our great state is embarrassingly slow internet speed.
1. In 2013, we were the only all red state in the Union
This map from Gizmodo gives you an idea of where we rank nationally. In case it is not obvious, red is bad.
2. By June 2014, things somehow got worse
According to www.netindex.com, which tests internet speeds around the world (and has offices in Kalispell!!!), Montana ranks second to last in the U.S., barely besting Maine.
3. Internationally, Montana is bested by Estonia, Kazakhstan, and Madagascar.
As a reminder, Madagascar is an ISLAND OFF OF AFRICA!
4. Iraq, Libya, Ethiopia, and Rwanda have faster internet than the residents of Lewistown.
We’re assuming this is how most Lewistown residents had to login to read this article.
5. Unless you live in Polson, Russia and China have faster internet than you
Go ahead and laugh at Lewiston, but unless you live in Polson, you may want to check yourself. Polson is the only town in Montana that has faster average internet than China… and Russia.
