God Help Us, The Real World is Coming to Bozeman
MTV’s The Real World is coming to Bozeman.
Let that sink in. Never in our wildest dreams (nightmares?) did we imagine writing that sentence. Or reading this press release. Montana has officially jumped the shark.
To be fair, we probably should have seen this coming. We had heard rumblings MTV was in town, and one reader tipped us off that it was a scout team (not a film crew). Bozeman is by far the smallest, and maybe the coldest, city to host the show. But MTV has gone off the beach and bikini path before, with seasons in Denver, Austin, and recently Portland.
We went to Twitter to figure out what was going on.
We joked that maybe they were picking Bozeman when we saw this tweet.
We stared in disbelief when this popped up later on,
And our heads exploded when we saw this
It gets worse.
According to the press release “Similar to past seasons, our house members will be close to a great bar scene, young crowd, and exciting region based jobs.” It continues that the house members will be able to live out their “Montana dreams – to be a farmer, journalist, ski bum, or barista.”
It gets even worse.
“[the house members] will also form a voluntary fire department, heroically helping Montanans in danger of forest fires.“
Yes. You read that right. They will form a voluntary fire department. God help us.
As for the house?
Our source tells us that the scout team was looking at a big, old house near Cooper Park. We are guessing it is this one that’s been on the market for almost a year. You can check out its amazing video tour here.
